Thank you, Long Beach
Rooted In Resistance
Long Beach Dyke March 2025
DATE & TIME: Friday, May 16th, 2025 | 6:00 PM
LOCATION: Bixby Park (First Street and Junipero)

The Dyke March is a protest, not a parade.
We take the streets because visibility is power, because dykes belong here, and because we refuse to be erased. It is a living tradition of queer resistance and a demand for justice.
The Long Beach Dyke March is a declaration of solidarity and a reminder that our fight is not over.
Thank You for Showing Up and Showing Out

Why We March

We march because resistance is survival. The political climate is shifting against us—trans rights, marriage equality, reproductive justice, and voting rights are all under attack. Reactionary forces and extremist ideologies are creeping into California, emboldened by anti-woke rhetoric that seeks to silence and erase us. Cities like Downey have refused to fly the Pride flag, a small but telling sign of a larger movement to push LGBTQ+ people out of public life.
We march because we refuse to go back. Abortion rights have already been overturned. Trans lives are being targeted. Voter suppression is gaining ground. The attacks are strategic, relentless, and well-funded. We march to say: Not here. Not now. Not ever.
Marching is not just symbolic—it is an act of defiance and community power. It makes us visible. It strengthens our connections. We take the streets to show that we are still here, still fighting, and rooted in resistance!

Mari Jauregui (MJ), a respected leader in Long Beach’s LGBTQ+ community, embodies resilience and visibility. Turning to the LGBT Center during her coming-out journey in the mid 1990’s, she identified a gap in programming for young adults and became a mentor. Since 2017, she’s been leading the Long Beach Pride Parade on her Harley Davidson, proudly flying the rainbow flag. As the leader of Motorcycles Contingency of Long Beach (Dykes on Bikes), she has amplified LGBTQ+ visibility and support and in 2024 was Grand Marshall. She has been a driving force behind the Long Beach Dyke March since 2017, evolving into its co-organizer. Her leadership ensures the Dyke March’s continuation, inspiring others and proving that dedication and passion create lasting change, positive change is not just possible—it’s inevitable.
